PUSHA T: "DARKEST  BEFORE DAWN" REVIEW

Visually speaking, Pusha T’s short film “Darkest Before Dawn” is amazingly evocative. Throughout the span of the short film, it foreshadows the climax of the story and in my own honest opinion they did a very great job in creating a sense of excitement the viewer can have while watching it. For those who haven’t given Pusha T’s album with the same title a listen, this short film will definitely get you deeply interested in what he has created.

My first reaction to the film was nothing short of awe; reason being the damn film looks so good to look at. There is a scene in the film where an exorcism is taking place; the fear in the Priest’s face as he held a crucifix in defense, invoked much emotion in me. The display of fear by the priest seemed as if it would have been a great scene in a good horror movie. Another great scene, is the death of the character who plays Satan; I always enjoy great effects that are used in order to really get the viewer to pay attention to the scene.

The film was great of course and well written, however I felt a bit rushed while viewing “Darkest Before Dawn”.

A film as well written, thought provoking, and visually satisfying as this, it could have been longer I feel as if it could have made Darkest Before Dawn's cimax, well... more climactic. The climax was excellent, but it seemed thrown directly at me with little build up. I could tell there was something ideal missing from the film, that thing missing could have been the transition from the plot to the climax.

Regardless to what I disliked, I could definitely re-watch “Darkest Before Dawn” multiple times and I suggest all who enjoyed the album to check it out. It will definitely give you a swayed perspective to what you may have thought Push was speaking on in his album.

To support the official release of "Darkest Before Dawn" take some time to enjoy both the short film and album of the same title. The film is availiable below!
