Is This The Drake Fans Wanted?

Drake is the definitive male super star of our generation he manages to remain more relevant to popular culture with other names in music, but Drake always lacked that “CLASSIC” album. Most people thought this album would be the one to put drake on a new wave but the questions still remains out there leading into views “Would this be Drake career defining/hands down classic”

THE GOOD!

Most of the album consistent of “PEAK DRAKE” this is the emotional Drake the one that make you think about your Ex’s at night. Along side with the production which is FUCKING SUPERB, collab with long time friend “40” it remained layered, lush and vibrant in the most low-key of situations on each track. Others included Boi-1da, Southside, 1985 turn in great work for the album. The album featured a solid artist like Future, Rihanna, Jeremih, to OVO signee “Party Next Door” and “The Division”

THE BAD!

First off the album is too damn long; with 20 tracks having low energy vibes it makes the album feel boring and long. Another problem Drake suffers from some struggle bars (reaching to make a bar rhythm). Some examples are in “Weston Road Flows” Drake says, “I got green like Earth Day”. Another was on track “U With Me?” He states “You toying with it? Happy Meal”. But by far the worse Drake bar to date was in “Pop Style” Drakes states, “Got so many chains they call me Chaining Tatum” this was even trending on Twitter so that goes to show you.

Lastly on the album he left Popcaan out of “Controlla” which must people heard the leaked version, which frustrated most people. Also in “Pop Style” he left Kanye West and Jay-Z but that in forgivable

MUST LISTEN TO

These are the songs you absolute need to hear. Most people already heard “Hotline Bling” and “One Dance” but in terms of new material that we haven’t heard yet you should start with “Views” the album titled track. This track has a “9 am to Dallas” vibe over some dope production.  Also “Weston Road Flows” a sampled was used from a Mary J Blige song, but everything about this song was just amazing from sound to the lyrics.

Even though this is a slow album if you’re looking for the bangers you should check out “Hype”, “Still Here” and “Grammys”

FINAL VERDICT

Drake had so much hype going into this project, with the help of the Meek Mill diss and the 6 God hype in general. I feel like he dropped the ball and fumbled instead of coming out in strides looking to score big with hard consistent tracks. I feel views is more suited for the winter over the summer vibe which would have been great but instead he went another way. Even though most of his fans may have mixed reviews I fill each fan of Drake have that 1 songs that they can pull from Views that gets them in the mood.
