Transcend: The Quest of a Goldminder Review

It is highly suggested, as you read this review play this album at high volume.

Gerrand’s project “Transcend the Quest of a Goldminder” was a very exciting compilation of unique tracks. Being Gerrand’s first official project and him gaining much buzz with his single “Boarding Pass” we’ve really been anticipating Gerrand to show us the direction of his musical path.

The soulfulness of “Boarding Pass” showed us that Gerrand is an artist that clearly has an amazing ear for instrumentals. The instrumental complements Gerrand’s flow and his lyrics, also the overall production of the song makes it such a smooth song to listen to. The smoothness seems to be recognized by Gerrand because it is placed perfectly on the track list.

Gerrand has 3 short intermissions placed strategically on the project, it tells the story of Gerrand and his friends’ journey from “Yestertown”, “Todayland”, and “Tomorrworld”

Having a plot and story as intricate and thought provoking as this is already a success on its own; often throughout the duration of the project, there was always this sense that I am viewing someone’s vivid portrayal on what it means to ‘transcend’. The perfect placement of tracks and how each songs seems to be continuation of the previous song, showed us how much Gerrand really cares about how the listener interprets his message.

Transcend the Quest of a Goldminder is sonically superior to most artists’ debut album.

The overall engineering of the project sounds great, for a debut project it is sometimes expected to be some trouble having a solidified sound, there was never a feeling that Gerrand’s sound was sub-par or unprofessional. Every song sounds like it was edited and detailed specifically for Gerrand’s flow. Each song is so unique its own way; also, it is like the plot of the album correlates with the transitioning of songs. This makes the project VERY exciting to listen to, we never had to or wanted to skip any songs on this project. Gerrand has really outdone himself with giving the listener such a great opportunity. Even with mainstream artists’ projects often there are a few songs that I may skip because of the song being straight up boring or out of place with the flow of the project.

Almost certainly Gerrand’s next project will be just as good, if not better. The high tempo, soulful, and calm demeanor of Gerrand’s sound on this tape was very enjoyable to experience. Please support Gerrand and the release of more enjoyable experiences.
