If you haven’t heard of J.F. Stacks, maybe you should open your ears. A young talented rapper from Detroit, Michigan is looking to make a name for himself. His latest mixtape, “Mood Swings,” is sure to increase his fan base. Overall, the mixtape is great to listen to from start to finish whether you’re working, relaxing at home, or driving. It provides a variety of sounds to encompass different types of musical needs.
Starting at track one, “The Heart,” which in my opinion is the heart of the mixtape. A great intro with a smooth flow that contains many witty punchlines. Some quotable lines:
“Even though I might branch off, I’m still connected to my roots”
“Tetrics the way I’m dropping gems”
“The church was God’s house, I never seen him there, but I’m guided by his spirit. You can feel it in the air”
J.F. Stacks showed his versatility with a track like “I want yo Friend” The song is about exactly what the titles says. We all been in that situation, where we wanted “the friend,” so this is a must track to listen to.This song has the true potential to be a radio hit.
A track like "This Way” shows the energy the artist. This track has a real catchy chorus, which is what a hit song needs. At the same time, the catchiness of the chorus doesn’t take away from the lyrical ability of J.F. Stacks, which is a rare combination.
This mixtape really illustrates the lyrical talent of the artist, his flow, and his content. This only being his second mixtape, shows he has a lot of potential. This is a MITHREADS “MUST LISTEN TO ARTIST”
