Amir Butler: Live That Life Soreem
I am Amir Butler, the creator of Live That Life Soreem. Soreem most nearly means being carefree, not putting much thought onto what others think or have to say about you. Before Soreem was created, I was originally in a "partnership" for an up and coming clothing line, until things never started to happen and I then chose to part away and start my own line. My first two lines, Brown Beauties and Brown Brothers, are a tribute to all the negative stereotypes and assumptions towards people of color. It's truly sickening to see the hatred towards my people and making this line I wanted to bring more awareness to these types of issues and prove a lot of the assumptions towards us wrong. A lot of the clothing from this company has graphics/sayings that will make you sit back and realize what type of society we live in that degrades anyone not white. As a young, brown female, I happen to understand and realize how the African American community is perceived and degraded today. I use the word brown rather than black because of the fact that black was too harsh and politically correct. I look at our skin and its brown... not black. What I created is not just a clothing line company, but it is a movement with such a strong message. I want young brown people to feel like they belong here and not feel some type of way because their different. We are all here for a purpose. Stay Strong, Be Proud & Brown. #YouMatter
